Sugary Drinks & Oral Health

INFOGRAPHIC

We all know that sugary drinks, such as soft drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks & fruit juice aren’t the healthiest option when it comes to choosing a beverage, not only regarding your teeth but also your body.

Consuming high levels of sugary drinks can lead to multiple health risks and are known to cause tooth erosion and linked to tooth decay.

Did you know that just one 600ml bottle of soft drink can contain up to 64 grams of sugar!? If you were to think about adding 1-2 teaspoons of sugar to your morning tea or coffee, imagine if you were to add an additional 14-15 teaspoons! That’s how many teaspoons 64 grams equivalates to. The recommend sugar intake for an average adult is only 6 teaspoons (24grams) per day.

The healthiest & most tooth-friendly options are milk and water, preferably tap water as it contains a safe amount of fluoride to assist in protecting your teeth against decay.
